Every step of my journey gave me new experiences, skills, and insight to better connect with and serve people. My career path may have changed, but my mission to create memorable experiences for people is still the same.

For over 20 years, I built a career in hospitality, working in top kitchens and managing, from Boulder to Manhattan to San Francisco. It was fast-paced, exciting, and full of opportunities for growth. But as time went on, I realized the industry I’d poured everything into came at too high a cost once I became a father. I started missing a lot of time with my son, Camden—holidays, bedtimes, and weekends.

That’s when I knew I needed a different path that would give me the flexibility to show up for my family, while still giving me room to grow and build something meaningful.
That’s what led me to real estate.
I had early exposure to the industry. My dad was an architect, my uncle was a builder, and real estate investing was always part of the conversation growing up. I started flipping houses with friends and quickly saw the appeal—the hands-on nature, the problem-solving, and the ability to create real, tangible results. In 2021, while living in New Hampshire, I got licensed to better manage my own deals. But once I started working with clients, it clicked. Helping people through big, often stressful life transitions came naturally—and felt meaningful.

Time spent in places like Thailand and Italy expanded not just my culinary skills, but my perspective. It taught me how to connect with people from different backgrounds and see the world through a broader lens. Combined with years in hospitality—managing pressure, solving problems quickly, leading diverse teams—it gave me a foundation of service that now defines how I work in real estate.
Over just a few years, I was closing 40 to 50 transactions annually in New Hampshire and had built a small, successful team. I had proved I could do this—and do it well.

But everything shifted when our daughter, Jemma, was born.
My wife, Montanah had just finished school, our son Camden was entering his teenage years, and we were suddenly looking at life with a newborn again. That’s when we knew it was time to move. In August 2025, we came back to Colorado—where I grew up as a fifth-generation Colorado local, and where we wanted to raise our kids closer to family and the community that shaped me.
Starting over here was a whole new challenge. Even with deep roots, rebuilding from scratch was harder than expected. But it pushed me to think bigger, reflect on my long-standing heritage here, and imagine what someone would need to truly feel at home here.

That’s what led to the launch of Coburn Community in conjunction with REAL Broker.
My business is built on three pillars: community, connection, and concierge-level care. I’m combining my hospitality background with my deep knowledge of the Front Range to offer something different: service that feels personal, lifestyle-driven advising, open houses that feel like experiences, and relationships that last beyond the closing table.
Whether it’s helping a local family sell their home with confidence, guiding a new arrival through the different neighborhoods and lifestyles, or walking an investor through the process, my approach is always the same: Lead with service, build trust by following through and being honest, and help people make smart, confident decisions.

We came back to Colorado to raise our family, build a business I’m proud of, and fully enjoy the lifestyle, culture, and community that make this place so special. From Lafayette to Louisville, from Erie to the foothills, Coburn Community exists to help people feel at home here in Colorado.
As a father who’s relocated multiple times—and someone who came back to Colorado to raise a family—I understand how personal these decisions are. It’s not just about the home itself, but where it fits into your life: the schools, the neighborhood, the pace, the priorities. By asking the right questions and learning about your story, goals, and lifestyle, I can offer personal guidance that helps you make choices that actually fit how you want to live.
As a chef, I learned how to create experiences that felt thoughtful and personal. I bring that same approach into real estate, because buying or selling a home isn’t just a process or a transaction, it’s a moment in people’s lives that deserves care and attention. I bring firsthand knowledge of what makes each area different across the Front Range. I also serve on the Boulder Valley School District leadership committee, which gives me insight into what matters to local families—and how to support them during big transitions. And with experience as an investor, I know how to spot opportunities, curate listings buyers want to see, and recognize cost-effective repairs or upgrades to increase value. I take pride in creating memorable experiences and delivering a level of service that exceeds expectations.
With gratitude,

Dakota Coburn
